The Opening Game Pass Games of 2026 Show Xbox Remains Committed.

Across the gaming landscape, enthusiasts continue to ring the funeral bells for the green team. The platform was lately surpassed in sales by a platform few have heard of. Dedicated Xbox communities are now publishing content about PlayStation as a new development. Last year proved to be a period of total upheaval for the Xbox ecosystem. However, judging purely by the titles headed to the service in 2026, it is apparent that Microsoft remains determined to attract subscribers with strong games on its flagship service.

The Immediate Additions

The duo of games you can play right now as you read this, Brews & Bastards and Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition, aren't the showstoppers. Instead, the excitement lies in what's arriving to Game Pass in the coming weeks that's deserving of attention.

Upcoming Headline Games

On Jan. 13, Game Pass will add the often-overlooked Star Wars Outlaws, a sprawling adventure that deviates from conventional open-world tropes with a space-faring criminal escapade. Another big get is Resident Evil Village with its iconic tall vampire, which our 2021 review called "a superb mixture of terror and combat."

Intriguing Niche Additions

But even the smaller games set to join the catalog are quite compelling. Lost In Random: The Eternal Die, a fantastic but under-the-radar dungeon crawler that is incredibly fun, drops on Jan. 7th — and you should try it even if you missed out on the first Lost in Random game.

The game set in a ruined Britain from last year may draw you in remarkably quickly.

Atomfall, a survival title with stealth elements by the makers of Sniper Elite, is another one to watch. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers also have Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition to anticipate.

A Solid, Curated Lineup

All in all, these titles aren't industry-shaking releases to Game Pass, and they are also not tentpole Microsoft studios games that are the sole reason for the service alone. But Microsoft's additions here are very dependable. There's a good mixture of old games you might have missed and new-ish games that lacked the recognition they were due initially — rendering them perfect candidates to experience a revival on Game Pass.

Be prepared to bid farewell to The Grinch Christmas Adventures, however.
