19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his maiden trophy for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has had a torrid year, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - led to him exiting of the top ten and finally separating with former coach his previous coach.

Currently working with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a closely contested competitive win over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's first trophy following the Rome competition and first on a hard surface after that period of that year.

Success also signifies he has won 21 titles at 21 different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my both daughters together, so to get a trophy is really nice," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the first title I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's counter-punching approach and frequent outbursts on court had prompted some to wonder if his ability to play at the top level was concluded.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors traded break points in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his initial tour championship, gained dominance to create a third set.

Moutet defended 4 early chances in a tight deciding set before the champion won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he earned the title with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman unable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
